The Commonwealth Cup finished. The tournament was visited this year by General Secretary of Gothia Cup. Dennis Andersson gave an interview to our website and talked about Uzbekistan, Gothia Cup in Sweden and why it is important for kids to come together from all over the world.
First of all, welcome! You are for the first time in Uzbekistan. So what do you think about Tashkent, what did you already visit and what do you plan to visit and to taste?
Yes, I’ve been here for 2 days now and I must say: I’m so impressed of the city of Tashkent. I couldn’t imagine how nice it is and how clean it is. Such beautiful buildings and people, of course. So it has been 2 wonderful days. Then we are going to see some of the Silk Road cities, like Bukhara and Samarkand.
As we know, the main prize of the Commonwealth Cup is the ticket to Gothia Cup China 2020. So, let’s talk about Gothia Cup. This tournament has a big history. But why kids, for example, from Uzbekistan should participate in it?
Well, the Gothia Cup in Sweden, in Gothenburg is the biggest youth event in the world. And the reason for coming there is to be a part of the world, to meet other young people from other religions, cultures, other way of playing football and other way of living. So that is a mix of everything that makes it such an experience for young people and, of course, also for young people from Uzbekistan.

And what is the key idea of such a great event like Gothia Cup?
It is the international meeting place to get young people from over the world come together and learn from each other. That is the main idea. Football is the common interest. That is important as well to play football. But I think, to make new friends and learn from each other is the most important thing.
