Spartak’s head coach Sergei Arslanov shared his emotions about the victory in the Commonwealth Cup and told how the tournament was organized.
– To be honest, emotions are off scale. I do not even know what to say. It is still impossible to realize our victory, because Pakhtakor is fairly strong team, almost invincible. But the our boys showed the great will to win today, showed character and it was from the first minutes that Spartak could compete for the medals. At the head of everything the players had a victory, as the tournament was being held at home. This is their first international home tournament. Everything was done in order to win. Enormous forces, hard work were spent. And, of course, the desire of children.
– Question as to the organizer of the tournament. Share your experiences from the past week.
– Oh, it was really difficult week! You know, before the tournament, we spent 3-4 months of preparation. That is, there were quite a lot of organizational issues and they occupied a huge period of time. As for the last week, the tournament itself, there were sleepless nights, days of worry from the early morning till the late evening. It was something incredible! It was a crazy pace, but it was worth it, because the guests were delighted with the organization of the tournament, of the tournament. It seemed to me that we were able to show a high level of preparation and tournament holding
- Let’s talk about plans for the next year …
– According to our plans, we think of making this tournament traditional and annual. We are planning to hold another tournament under a different name in the spring. But this tournament we are planning to hold every year in November. If we can, maybe we will also have some tournament in summer. But for now let’s focus on these two. Moreover, we are planning our participation in the international tournaments outside of our country.
– Speaking about the Commonwealth Cup, do you plan to expand the geography of participants?
– Certainly ! That is why we talked about sleepless nights, hard days. That was done in order to attract maximum teams, expand the boundaries the tournament. We tried to create the most comfortable conditions for all participating teams. In order to attract interest of our tournament, not only within CIS countries, but also foreign countries.
