In business and in life you should dream about your future. And in football it’s the same. It’s better, because you have a passion. And when you do something with passion, it’s more likely that you will succeed. Of course, when you are a kid, you have a dream that you are going to be a professional football player. All the kids dream about that. Unfortunately, football is not an exact science, not even all the best players can achieve that goal.
My advice for all the kids is based on my experience, because I was a football player in Benfica. I went to Benfica when I was 9 years old and left when I was 19. 10 years of dreaming about being a high professional player.
I think, kids should have a support of the parents. I mean, the parents don’t need to push kids too much. I think, kids must enjoy, must be aware that they need to be committed of life of football player: you need to rest, to be focused on the training, to give 100% of you, so you will be more close to the success.
But my advise also regarding the school. Kids don’t need to give up the school. Because sometimes you get injured, sometimes coach has a system different from that you used to play, sometimes you can’t succeed because of some details.
But dream is a big weapon. So dream big, work hard, be focused and don’t give up of the studies as well.
